The best seats in the house at IMS are well known when it comes to the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400. When it comes to the Red Bull Indianapolis GP and the IMS road course, it’s a different story. We took the time to scope out the best three places to watch tomorrow’s race. Below is the breakdown of what you can expect to see from my personal favorite locations: Turn 1 of the oval, Turn 9 and Turn 4 of the oval.
Turn 1 was full of fans for today’s qualifying session, and now we know why. From this area of the stands you can view the front straight, a variety of turns and the pits. Another perk of Turn 1 is the shade! Although we have perfect weather in the forecast for this weekend, shade is always a nice factor.
Turn 9 is a reserved area for members of the Corner 9 Club. Anyone who wants to upgrade their Red Bull Indianapolis GP experience can join. An air conditioned suite complete with lounge areas, food and drinks is provided. The Corner 9 stands are just a short walk from the suite and amidst all the action! The view allows you to see multiple bikes speeding around multiple corners at the same time. There’s never a dull moment in Turn 9.
Sitting in Turn 4 of the oval provides a great view as well. Multiple turns that cause the bikes to lean left and then right, the front straight and two big screens allow for a great experience. No shade exists in Turn 4, but the view is worth it! Just remember to bring your sunscreen!
Where will you be sitting tomorrow for the Red Bull Indianapolis GP? We want to know!

I’m gonna be at the Ducati Island.
I sit at the “Yard of Bricks” don’t tell anyone as I do not want it be too crowded. Sat here last year and saw all the pre race activities and umbrella girls.
We are sitting in the NW Vista, from my seat I can see 8 turns and the main straight!!
Here’s my point, I and many other paid 130 dollars to have good seat in the penthouse in turn 1. But nobody was checking tickets so anyone and everyone came up there and was standing in the walkway, stairs, and sitting in our seat everytime we got up. Heck people paid 40 dollars for gen admission and got to sit int the same seats I paid 130 for. If they don’t get a handle on this me and many others are gonna do the same thing or not go at all.
I found a helmet on sunday. Know anyone that lost one?
The last pic is NOT turn 4. It’s the last turn. Grandstand h , section 16. Someone needs to get their pictures right ( it is swear my tickets are)
I was in the roped off paddock seating which was totally unaceptable. This is what drives motorcycle fans away from places like this. Check my blog post from Monday and get a good blast from me!
@ GSP: Agreed that’s not turn 4, although I have a picture from turn 4 this year and it is almost identical to th eone posted above!
Steve & GSP, I agree that it’s not entirely clear. But what the writer means (and what he says up top) is “turn 4 of the oval”. That last seating suggestion and picture is in the stands in the H-J area, just south of turn 4 of the oval. It gets extra confusing because “turn 1″ is “turn 1″, but “turn 4″ isn’t “turn 4″.
(Oh, and H stand is where to be. Missed it this year but have been in H for all the others.)
yes, i think so this is right place to have a great view for the race. but i think this seats also is hard to secure. there are VIP’s and stuff. lol.
this is really a good spot to choose for an event like this. you can able to see and feel the thrill in the competition not to mention the excitement shown by fanatics.
a best place to seat with your date? have you tried bringing a “hot” date on race track like this? hmmp.depends on woman interest.
I saw my first Moto gp race last year in California. I got the VIP passes. It was amazing. I knew that I was going to like it but I was like a kid in a candy shop. The loud niose of the bikes coming near you is the best. They’re so loud. Amazing. I’m going to try to save some cheese and go to Mugello this year. In Laguna seca you could move all over the place and there is a hill where you can almost see all of the track. Best of luck and cheers!
I have been to Indy many times (10-15) for both the 500 and the Formula 1 race. I have sat in some of the best seats in the house including the Penthouse seats. Each seat has its pro’s and con’s. Under the roof in Penthouse is a great view but way too noisy as the engine noise radiates off the tin roof and you miss the military aircraft flyby before the race.
